The mobile is one of those things that you’re better off not buying when you’re expecting: you’ll definitively get a few as presents. The mobile is also one of the first things you give away when the baby grows. But when you’re having your third baby, everone thinks you have enough mobiles and nobody will give you one.

To solve the matter we thought to make one for Chiara. This is a classic Waldorf mobile.

First of all, we had fun dyeing the silk with food colorings.

(Just dip your silk in a mix of water, white vinegar and food coloring)

Then we made some little “dolls”, wrapping the pieces of silk around a ball of wool and tying the base of its “head”.

To finish, we hanged the dolls to a bag handle(used for years as a steering wheel) and put it on Chiara’s bed.
